Affiliate Grantee Spotlight: City of Williamsburg
March 26, 2021
After a strong storm rolled through the area a couple of years ago causing significant tree damage, the City of Williamsburg found that access to resources to assist with the clean-up was difficult. In partnership with Iowa County Conservation, the City applied for a grant from the Iowa County Community Foundation and was awarded funding in 2020 to purchase a new wood chipper. Two weeks after the new piece of equipment arrived, the Derecho hit Iowa. Hear from Aaron Sandersfeld, Williamsburg City Manager and former Mayor, about the perfect timing of this grant project and how collaboration was key to Derecho recovery.
The Iowa County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa. More information about the ICCF can be found at www.iowaccf.org.
