A Commitment To Do More
June 4, 2020
The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa cannot be complacent in the wake of recent acts of violence that have brought the ugliness of racism to the forefront of our national and local conversations. Injustice and violence against the black community has plagued our nation's history and continues to do so. No one should live in fear because of the color of their skin. No one should suffer the effects of hatred and discrimination. CFNEIA denounces these evil actions and stands with those affected by racial disparity and inequality.
We commit to raising our voice as a local funder and community leader. Inclusion is one of our guiding values, and we must take action to do more to create inclusive and equitable communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We also know ongoing systematic failures allow racism to continue and can only be remedied through community collaboration and ceaseless determination. Finding solutions to these pervasive wrongs will only happen through unified action and hearing from and listening to those who have not been heard as they give voice to the inequity in our communities. We stand in solidarity with the black community and all partners working tirelessly to end injustice. We choose to listen, learn, and act. Together we can create a more equitable Cedar Valley and Iowa.
