Grantmaking Snapshot: Iota Chapter Learning Shelves

March 15, 2020

The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa's Women for Good educates, engages, and inspires giving to improve the lives of women and girls in Black Hawk County. As part of its 2019 grant process, Women for Good awarded a grant through its Women's Fund to the Delta Kappa Gamma, Iota Chapter. The Iota Chapter's collaboration with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity provides learning shelves focused on reading and thinking skills for children birth to 16 years old who are moving into a newly dedicated Habitat home. Learning shelves are filled with age and interest appropriate books, games, and puzzles as well as other items to facilitate learning. The project contributes to an environment emphasizing literacy in the home.
