Waterville Community Foundation Distributes $2,254 to Local Organizations

The Waterville Community Foundation announced $2,254 in grant funding to five projects of organizations serving the Waterville area through its 2021 grant cycle.
“The Waterville Community Foundation is proud to support these nonprofit agency and government entity projects to help create a more vibrant Waterville community,” said Virgil Thorstenson, chair of the Waterville Community Foundation.
Grant recipient organization, project the grant will fund, and grant amount are listed below by funding areas.
Community Betterment
- City of Waterville, Waterville Community Center Disc Golf Course, $500
Education & Youth Development
- Allamakee Community Schools, Project Prom, $250
- Allamakee County ISU Extension, 4-H Toppers - Annual Easter Egg Hunt in Waterville, $250
- City of Harpers Ferry, Swim Bus for Youth, $750
- Worldmaker International, Allamakee County Youth Thrive: Community & Youth Resilience Building, $504
Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from the Waterville area. Committee members include: Sandy Bresnahan, Peggy Khan, Marlys Leiran, David Monserud, Diane Rathbun, Amanda Streeper, Virgil Thorstenson, Clark White and Nancy Wonderlich.
Grants are awarded through Waterville Community Foundation’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of: arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving the Waterville area in order to be considered for funding. The 2022 grant cycle opens July 15, with an application deadline of September 30, 2022. The grant guidelines and application will be posted prior to the cycle opening at watervillecf.org.
