Waterville Community Foundation Distributes $2,269 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Waterville Community Foundation has granted $2,269 to two projects of organizations serving the Waterville, Iowa area through its 2020 grant cycle.
“The Waterville Community Foundation’s mission is to connect resources to enrich our communities and we are proud to be able to support these projects as these deserving nonprofits work to make the Waterville area a better place for all people,” said Virgil Thorstenson, chair of the Waterville Community Foundation governing committee.
Grant recipient organization, project the grant will fund, and grant amount are listed below by funding areas.
Environment
- City of Waterville, Community Center – Energy Rehab Project, $769
Human Service
- Northeast Iowa Area Agency on Aging, Home Delivered Meals for Waterville, $1,500
Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from the Waterville area. Committee members include: Kelli Boylen, Sandy Bresnahan, Peggy Khan, Marlys Leiran, David Monserud, Diane Rathbun, Amanda Streeper, Virgil Thorstenson (chair), Clark White and Nancy Wonderlich.
Grants are awarded through Waterville Community Foundation’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of art and culture, community betterment, education, environment, health, historic preservation and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Waterville in order to be considered for funding. The 2021 grant cycle opens July 15 with an application deadline of September 30. The grant guidelines and application can be found at www.watervillecf.org.
