Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa is excited to announce Liz Kurtt as its new Vice President of Finance and Operations. Liz joins CFNEIA after over 25 years of experience working for Iowa’s largest human service organization, Lutheran Services in Iowa (LSI), serving as the Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for the past two years. In her role with LSI, Liz was a member of the organization’s leadership team and provided oversight to the financial, asset, contract and risk management for LSI’s $35 million operations budget, as well as LSI’s Charitable Foundation. Liz graduated from the University of Northern Iowa and obtained her Certified Public Accountant certification in 1991.
As the Vice President of Finance and Operations for CFNEIA, Liz will maintain the financial and operational integrity of the organization by leading across a range of responsibilities, including financial reporting, cash flow management, budgeting, acceptance of complex gifts, human resources, operational oversite, and policy development. Liz’s work history in finance and leadership in the nonprofit sector will bring critical experience and knowledge to CFNEIA and its stakeholders.
“I am extremely excited to join the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa team,” said Liz. “Working in the human services field, I have seen first-hand the power grants can have on an organization, both financially and the direct impact on the people they serve. I look forward to serving as a leader in advancing the mission of the Foundation.”
Liz lives in her hometown of Waverly and is a lifelong resident of the Cedar Valley. She and her husband Will, Facilities Director at LSI, have three children, Rachel, a recent graduate of Upper Iowa University currently working at First National Bank in Waverly, Miranda, a sophomore at Indian Hills Community College, and Ryan, a junior at Waverly-Shell Rock High School. In her off-work time, Liz enjoys following her children’s activities, spending time outdoors, boating with family and friends, reading a good book, and volunteering.
