Kossuth County Community Foundation Distributes Over $108,00 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Kossuth County Community Foundation (KCCF) held its annual grant awards celebration on April 7 announcing the distribution of $108,496.35 to 17 projects of organizations serving Kossuth County through its 2021 grant cycle.

“The Kossuth County Community Foundation is proud to partner with our local nonprofit organizations and support their work to make Kossuth County a better place for everyone,” said Louie Bormann, chair of the KCCF governing committee.

Grant recipient organization, project the grant will fund, and grant amount are listed below by funding areas.

Arts & Culture

• Kossuth County Concert Association, Kossuth County Concert Series, $3,291.61

Community Betterment

• Bancroft Volunteer Firefighters Association, Pump Repairs on Primary and Secondary Fire Apparatus, $13,575
• City of Fenton, Library - Accessible & Safe for All, $11,830
• City of Lakota, Library - Providing Security and Safety, $2,725
• City of Ledyard, Fire Department - Radio Grant, $1,500
• City of Titonka, Fire Department - Rescue Equipment, $2,000
• City of Titonka, Pool - Installation of Shade Umbrellas, $3,200
• City of Wesley, Fire Department - Cascade Project, $2,200
• East Fork Chapter I.W.L.A., Club House Remodel, $5,500

Education & Youth Development

• Algona Community School District, Lucia Wallace GaGa Pit, $3,291.62
• North Central Iowa Ag in the Classroom, Agriculture Education for Kossuth County Schools - Pre-K through Eighth Grade, $3,500

Health

• City of Algona, EMS - Lucas Device Expansion, $16,000
• City of Lakota, Ambulance Service - Power Cot, $10,000
• Kossuth Regional Health Center, Ventilator Project for Kossuth Regional Health Center, $16,350

Human Service

• City of Algona, Police Department - Ballistic Helmet for Officers, $3,535.12
• Exceptional Opportunities, Communication and Education Equipment, $2,400
• Food Bank of Iowa, Fighting Childhood Hunger in Kossuth County, $7,598

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from Kossuth County. Committee members include: Cynthia Arndorfer, Pat Berte, Trudy Blome, Louie Bormann (chair), Jonathan Chambers, Shannon Goche, Derald Goetz, Eric Goodman, Laurie Harms, David Harner, Karen Knapp, Julie Murphy, Greg Stewart and Kelly Tigges.

Grants are awarded through KCCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of: arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Kossuth County in order to be considered for funding. The 2022 grant cycle opens November 1 with an application deadline of January 15, 2022. The grant guidelines and application can be found at www.kossuthccf.org.
