Kossuth County Community Foundation Distributes Over $174,000 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Kossuth County Community Foundation (KCCF) held its 2023 grant awards celebration at the Summit Center in Bancroft on April 4, announcing the distribution of $174,868.16 to 19 projects of organizations serving Kossuth County through its 2023 grant cycle.
“Nonprofits are doing important work throughout our county and the Kossuth County Community Foundation is honored to be able to support some of them through this year’s grant awards,” said Laurie Harms, co-chair of the KCCF committee.
The grant recipient organizations, project each grant will fund, and grant amounts are listed below by funding area.
Arts & Culture
- City of Lone Rock, Depot Committee - Depot Museum Project, $15,704
- Kossuth County Agriculture & Motorsports Museum, Mezzanine Walkway Covering, $9,000
- Kossuth County Concert Association, Kossuth County Concert Series, $3,000
- Patent Pending Players, Community Hall Siding and Windows, $8,000
Community Betterment
- Active Senior Citizens of Algona, Ceiling Tile Replacement, $6,000
- Bancroft Volunteer Firefighters Association, Upgrading Breathing Air Equipment and Quick Response/Wildland Firefighting Truck, $28,371
- City of Algona, Parks & Recreation Commission - Central Park Redevelopment Project, $20,000
- City of Algona, Police Department - Cellebrite Digital Intelligence Platform, $12,100
- City of Bancroft, Restoring Fencing to Historical Memorial Park, $10,000

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from Kossuth County. Committee members include: Caleb Anderson, Brad Arndorfer, Cynthia Arndorfer, Trudy Blome, Kristie Brown (ex-officio), Shannon Goche (ex-officio), Derald Goetz, Eric Goodman, Laurie Harms (co-chair), Deb Kenne, Brian Kollasch, Al Miller, Julie Murphy (co-chair) and Greg Stewart.
Grants are awarded through KCCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Kossuth County in order to be considered for funding.
