Howard County Community Foundation Distributes Over $99,000 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Howard County Community Foundation (HCCF) has granted $99,138.73 to 30 projects of organizations serving Howard County through its 2021 grant cycle.

“The Howard County Community Foundation Governing Committee would like to thank all those who applied for grants. We are excited to be a part of a Foundation helping to fund projects that will improve the lives of all of us here in Howard County,” said Ronda Hughes, chair of the HCCF governing committee.

Grant recipient organization, project the grant will fund, and grant amount are listed below by funding areas.

Arts & Culture

  • Howard County Farm Bureau, Howard County Farm Bureau Mural, $3,000
  • Lime Springs Lidtke Mill Historical Site, Lidtke Mill Gate Repair, $3,370
  • Norman Borlaug Heritage Foundation, Birthplace Farm Site Shelter and Bathrooms Construction Project, $11,500
  • Notre Dame Church and School, Howard County Fair Stand Improvements, $3,000

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from Howard County. Committee members include: Alice Back, Kristen Burke, Rosalie Christensen, Brooke Cray, Becky Fritcher, Elaine Govern, Ronda Hughes (chair), Ryan Manske, Kip Powers, Shirley Sovereign, Bruce Weigel and Jim Zajicek.

Grants are awarded through HCCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of: arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Howard County in order to be considered for funding. The 2022 grant cycle opens December 1 with an application deadline of January 31, 2022. The grant guidelines and application can be found at www.howardccf.org.
