Fund Established to Support Creation of Hampton Dog Park, Help from Community Needed

Franklin County Community Foundation
September 6, 2022

The Friends of Hampton Iowa Dog Park Fund has been established with the Franklin County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, to support efforts to raise funds for a new dog park in Hampton, IA. The Friends of Hampton Iowa Dog Park formed and is working on this project in response to the needs of the area’s population for a vibrant, play location for dogs.

“We believe that a dog park will foster an increased sense of community by encouraging social interaction among citizens within the park, while reducing encounters with citizens who are apprehensive of off-leash dogs in other public parks,” said Carol Harrison, chair of the Friends of Hampton Iowa Dog Park.

Contributions to the fund will support the creation of a secured, fenced-in area where owners may exercise and train their dogs off-leash in a clean, safe environment without endangering or annoying people, property or wildlife.

“We see this project as a canine complement to the town’s existing parks and it will be open to all dog lovers and friends who are willing to uphold the park’s rules and regulations,” said Harrison. “The success of this project is solely dependent upon financial support, so we are asking the community to consider giving to this fund if this cause is something you are also passionate about. Every gift matters and is much appreciated.”

Financial gifts to the Hampton dog park project can be made to the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, 3117 Greenhill Circle, Cedar Falls, IA, 50613. Checks should be made payable to the Friends of Hampton Iowa Dog Park Fund. Gifts can also be made on the Community Foundation’s secure website at fund.cfneia.org/HamptonDogPark. Donors to the fund can take advantage of normal federal deductions for charitable gifts.

CFNEIA will serve as the fiscal sponsor for this special project fund.
