Floyd County Community Foundation Distributes Over $104,000 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Floyd County Community Foundation (FCCF) has granted $104,104.94 to 20 projects of organizations serving Floyd County through its 2020 grant cycle.

“Each year, the Floyd County Community Foundation awards grants to various nonprofits working to carry out effective and transformative projects,” said Charlie Newman, chair of the FCCF governing committee. “While we typically host an in-person celebration and are unable to do that this year, we are proud to support these nonprofits and the impacts they are making throughout Floyd County communities.”

Art and Culture

  • Floyd County Fair Society, Stunt Dog Productions, $7,500
  • Floyd County ISU Extension and Outreach, Floyd County Fair Foodstand Building, $10,000
  • National 19th Amendment Society, Website Redesign - Catching up to 21st Century Demands, $3,500

Community Betterment

  • Charles City Civic Foundation, Community Revitalization Main Street Flowerpots, $1,000
  • City of Marble Rock, Park Board - New Bathrooms, $5,000
  • City of Marble Rock, WFBMR Community Center - Lighting, $5,000
  • City of Rockford, Street Light Project, $5,329.94

Education

  • City of Charles City, Floyd County Foster Grandparents: Virtual In-Services, $3,000
  • Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, Show Love Campaign, $2,000

Health

  • Floyd County Medical Center, Dietary Services Department - Commercial Reach-In Refrigerator, $3,930

Historic Preservation

  • Floyd County Historical Society and Museum, Roof Replacement and Chimney Removal, $8,500

Human Service

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from Floyd County. Committee members include: Sue Bortz, Jim Erb, Lisa Garden, Kurt Hoeft, Sheila Koudelka, Jane Larson, Tracy Merfeld, Charlie Newman (chair), Rod Nordeng, Amy Staudt, Teresa Stevens-Marth and Erika Troyna.

Grants are awarded through FCCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of art and culture, community betterment, education, environment, health, historic preservation and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Floyd County in order to be considered for funding. The 2021 grant cycle opens August 15 with an application deadline of September 30. The grant guidelines and application can be found at floydccf.org.
