Elma Area Community Foundation Distributes $8,385 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Elma Area Community Foundation (EACF) has granted $8,385 to four projects of organizations serving the Elma area through its 2022 grant cycle.
“The Elma Area Community Foundation is proud to partner with our local nonprofit organizations and support their work to make Elma a better place for everyone,” said Garry McGee, co-chair of the EACF governing committee.
Grant recipient organization, project the grant will fund, and grant amount are listed below by funding areas.
Community Betterment
- City of Elma, Elma Community Complex Exterior Renovations, $2,800
- Firefighters of Elma, Elma Emergency Service Building, $3,000
Education & Youth Development
- Elma Early Childhood Center, Carpeting for Addition and Existing Daycare, $1,350
Environment and Animal Welfare
- Elma Depot Museums Association, 2022 Elma Trail Enhancement Project, $1,235
Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from the Elma area. Committee members include: Jeff Biwer, Diane Gardner, Garry McGee (co-chair), Karen Meirick, Logan Ptacek, Debra Roethler and Dr. Sheila Wemark (co-chair).
Grants are awarded through EACF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of: arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving the Elma area in order to be considered for funding. The 2023 grant cycle opens December 1 with an application deadline of January 31, 2023. The grant guidelines and application can be found at www.elmaareacf.org.
