Elma Area Community Foundation Distributes $7,465 to Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Elma Area Community Foundation (EACF) has granted $7,465 to eight projects of organizations serving the Elma area through its 2021 grant cycle.
“The Elma Area Community Foundation is proud to support these worthwhile projects of nonprofit organizations working to benefit Elma and surrounding communities,” said Dr. Sheila Wemark, co-chair of the EACF governing committee.
Grant recipient organization, project the grant will fund, and grant amount are listed below by funding areas.
Arts & Culture
- Elma Depot Museums Association, Depot Painting, $1,000
Community Betterment
- City of Alta Vista, Fire Department - New Tank for Grass Truck, $500
- City of Elma, ECC Renovation of Multi-Purpose Room/City Clerk’s Office/Bathrooms, $2,000
- City of Elma, Library - Multipurpose Room Technology and Furnishings, $500
- Firefighters of Elma, Ice Rescue Equipment, $1,000
Education & Youth Development
- Riceville Community School, Elementary - Flex-Space Educational Zone, $500
- Riceville Community School, Pre-K-12 - Break Space, $500
Human Service
- Elma Early Childhood Center, Furnishings for Addition, $1,465
Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from the Elma area. Committee members include: Jeff Biwer, Diane Gardner, Garry McGee (co-chair), Karen Meirick, Logan Ptacek, Debra Roethler and Dr. Sheila Wemark (co-chair).
Grants are awarded through EACF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of: arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving the Elma area in order to be considered for funding. The 2022 grant cycle opens December 1 with an application deadline of January 31, 2022. The grant guidelines and application can be found at www.elmaareacf.org.
