The Decorah Community Food Pantry of Winneshiek County has established two funds with the Winneshiek County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, to support the organization’s work to share food with Iowans facing food insecurities.

The Decorah Community Food Pantry Endowment Fund is a permanent endowment fund, meaning the fund is invested and grows over time, providing a long-term, stable source of income to carry out the mission of the organization. The Decorah Community Food Pantry Quasi Endowment Fund is also invested but allows for increased flexibility to access funds when needed.

Decorah Community Food Pantry was incorporated in 2017 as a faith-based, nonprofit charity organization. The volunteer-driven food pantry serves thousands of Iowans with food and necessary essentials each year.

“When you support our organization, you should feel good knowing your generosity means our neighbors in need have access to good nutrition and basic essentials,” said Pantry Director Matt Tapscott. “We are so grateful to our donors, community organizations and local businesses who make what we do possible. We hope you consider making a gift to one of these additional ways to support our impact in the community.”

Financial gifts to the endowment and quasi endowment funds of cash, check and stock are accepted through the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, 3117 Greenhill Circle, Cedar Falls, IA, 50613, which is the administrative office of the Winneshiek County Community Foundation. Checks to the endowment fund should be made payable to the Decorah Community Food Pantry Endowment Fund. Gifts can also be made on the Community Foundation’s secure website at fund.cfneia.org/decorahfoodpantry. Gifts to the endowment fund are eligible to receive a 25% state tax credit through the Endow Iowa program, www.cfneia.org/endowiowa.

Checks to the quasi endowment fund should be made payable to the Decorah Community Food Pantry Quasi Endowment Fund. Gifts to the quasi endowment fund can also be made online at fund.cfneia.org/decorahfoodpantry-quasi. Donors to the quasi fund can take advantage of normal federal deductions for charitable gifts.

Questions about giving to the funds may be directed to Terry Gaumer, affiliate development director with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, at 319-243-1354 or tgaumer@cfneia.org.
