Cerro Gordo County Community Foundation
October 26, 2017
This week, Lieutenant Governor Adam Gregg presented the Cerro Gordo County Community Foundation with the Outstanding Nonprofit Collaboration Award. The Iowa Nonprofit Awards recognize excellence in the nonprofit sector in conjunction with the Iowa Nonprofit Summit.
The Cerro Gordo County Community Foundation and Mason City Volunteer Center have developed a partnership to strengthen the work in the community to serve nonprofits, government entities, and other needs including the promotion and awareness of the need for volunteers, identifying community needs, and strengthening area nonprofits through educational opportunities. The organizations partner to provide a radio show on the first and third Monday of each month which is re-aired the following Saturday, where they discuss the benefits of volunteering, current volunteer opportunities, and showcase member organizations and events.
The two entities leverage their resources of shared staff and funding by having local advocates assist them in their work, and because both organizations operate with limited resources, the partnership has provided the opportunity to thrive and impact the geographic area they serve, and has improved their effectiveness to reach their goals.
Congratulation to the Cerro Gordo County Community Foundation governing committee on the well-deserved award. Your work as leaders in making the communities of Cerro Gordo County stronger is inspiring.
