Bremer County Community Foundation Awards Over $183,967 in 2024 Grants to 35 County Projects

The Bremer County Community Foundation (BCCF) held its grant awards celebration at the Waverly Area Veterans Post on July 10, announcing the distribution of $183,967 to 35 projects of organizations serving Bremer County through its 2024 grant cycle.
“It’s an honor for the Bremer County Community Foundation to support these local organizations and their projects that will help strengthen our communities and create vibrant places for all to live, work, and play,” said Stacie Schroeder, chair of the BCCF committee.
The 2024 grant recipient organizations, project the grant will fund, and grant amount are listed below by funding area.
Arts & Culture

- City of Plainfield – Fire Department, Gear - $9,915
- City of Plainfield – Library, Makerspace - $2,400
- City of Readlyn – Library Technology Upgrade, Desktop Computers - $2,000
- City of Readlyn – Policy Department, Equipment Upgrade - $2,000
- City of Sumner – Fire Department, Updated Air Bag System - $7,750

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from Bremer County. Committee members include Morgan Bergmann, Lisa Biersner, Lois Buhr, Brian Bunce, Gloria Campbell, Nikoli Falenschek, Deborah Hanson, Beth Hartman, Michael Johnson, Jane Juchems, Karen Neuendorf, Stacie Schroeder, Jennifer Seward, David SmolikHagen, and Judi Tripolino.
Grants are awarded through BCCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Bremer County in order to be considered for funding.
