Over $312,700 Granted to Organizations Serving Black Hawk County

The Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa (CFNEIA) announced the distribution of $312,743 in grants to 24 nonprofit organization projects serving Black Hawk County as part of its fall 2020 grant cycle.
“Nonprofits keep Black Hawk County strong by providing essential services. This has never been more evident than during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said CFNEIA President and CEO Kaye Englin. “We are honored to partner with these amazing organizations, and we are thankful for our generous donors who make it possible for our Foundation to enrich our communities.”

Grants are awarded through CFNEIA’s competitive grant process. Decisions on grant awards are determined by CFNEIA’s grant distribution committee, which consists of volunteers from Black Hawk County. Committee members include: Jack Aschenbrenner, Stacie Brass, Joyce Coil, Ken Cutts, Kaye Englin, Susan Entriken, Andrew Finnegan, Rudy Jones, Sharina Sallis, Jeff Seamans, Scott Sernett, Angela Waseskuk, Sherman Wise and ReShonda Young.
The Community Foundation has a fall and spring grant cycle for Black Hawk County. The spring 2021 grant cycle is now open with an application deadline of April 1. Grants are awarded to projects in the program areas of: arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health, and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Black Hawk County in order to be considered for funding.
