Scott A. and Carol J. Toppin Family Fund
CFNEIA
Donor Advised

The Scott A. and Carol  J. Toppin Family Fund was established in memoriam of Scott and his generous spirit.

Scott Toppin was born and raised in Waterloo. It was his time at Iowa State University that connected Scott to John Deere where, after graduation, he continued his career. In total, Scott worked as an engineer at John Deere for 41 years. He was immensely loyal to the company and through his work, he developed a love for tractors as well. In his free time, Scott enjoyed hunting and fishing and adventuring the outdoors, particularly the Mississippi. His love for the outdoors was inspired and encouraged by his involvement in scouting throughout his lifetime. He was an Eagle Scout, active in the Order of the Arrow and was awarded the Silver Beaver Award. Each of Scott’s children followed in his footsteps by becoming Eagle Scouts as well.

Together, Scott and Carol had three boys - Paul (Kristen), Ryan (Bonnie), and Curt (Chelsea) and are the grandparents to three grandchildren, Hadley, Lois, and Miles. When Scott passed, Carol established The Scott A. and Carol J. Toppin Family Fund as a way for the family to honor Scott together.

“My hope is that our children and grandchildren can view this fund as a way to help others, like Scott always did. Giving back is simply what you are supposed to do and I believe this fund will be an avenue to contribute to our community,” said Carol.

Your gift to the Scott A. and Carol J. Toppin Family Fund with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa allows recommendations for grants to be made each year to support charitable causes that carry out the mission of the Community Foundation.
