Franklin County Community Foundation Awards $146,288 in 2024 Grants to 25 County Projects

The Franklin County Community Foundation (FCCF) held its grant awards celebration at First Bank Hampton on April 12, announcing the distribution of $146,288 to 25 projects of organizations serving Franklin County through its 2024 grant cycle. 

“The Franklin County Community Foundation is proud to uplift organizations creating an impact in our county. We are eager to see these projects come to life in Franklin County,” said Eric Reicherts, chair of the FCCF committee.  

The 2024 grant recipient organizations, project the grant will fund, and grant amount is listed below by funding area.

Arts & Culture

  • Franklin County Fair & Convention Center – Handicap Access to Grandstand - $10,000
  • Franklin County Historical Society – Harriman-Nielsen Historic Farm Freezer Replacement - $1,500
  • Windsor Theatre Development Corporation – Remodel Restrooms - $6,000

Community Betterment

  • City of Coulter, Administration – City Hall Modernization - $7,000
  • City of Coulter, Fire Department – Building Door - $1,588
  • City of Coulter, Public Works – Snowplow Shed Improvement - $6,800
  • City of Hansell, Fire Department – Truck Equipment & Lighting - $1,500
  • City of Popejoy, Administration – City Hall & Park Improvements- $3,000
  • City of Sheffield – Park Improvements - $10,000
  • Dows Rural Fire Association – Air Bottle Replacement - $2,500
  • Iowa Lions Foundation, Sheffield Lions Club – Community LED Sign - $10,000

Education & Youth Development

  • AGWSR Community School District, Library Program – Finding Your Voice Reading Verse - $1,000
  • Al Exito – Al Exito Hampton: Student Success Hampton - $4,500
  • CAL Community School District – Cub Cadet Childhood Center Relocation - $10,000          
  • Hampton Community Christian Daycare – Privacy Fence and Playground Improvements - $10,000
  • La Luz Centro Cultural – Classroom Equipment - $7,000
  • North Central Iowa Ag in the Classroom – Connecting Students to Agriculture in Franklin County Schools- $4,500
  • North Iowa Area Community College Foundation – NIACC Career Center in Franklin County - $10,000
  • West Fork Community School District – Elementary Playground Installation - $10,000

Health

  • Crisis Intervention Service – Sexual Assault Program Healing Bags & School Activities - $1,400
  • Franklin General Hospital Foundation, Franklin Country View – Lift Assistance Equipment - $10,000

Human Service

  • 43 North Iowa, Franklin County Disability Support Services – Employment and Community Living -$2,000
  • Food Bank of Iowa – Fighting Hunger in Franklin County - $7,000
  • Lutheran Services in Iowa – Child Abuse Prevention Services in Franklin County - $3,000
  • West Fork Food Pantry – Front Siding Replacement - $6,000

Decisions on grant awards are determined by a local committee, which consists of volunteers from Franklin County. Committee members include: Dennis Carlson, Elizabeth Carr, Sara DeBour, Ashley Francis, Kayla Norman, Nicole Poock, Eric Reicherts, and Kyle Whalen.

Grants are awarded through FCCF’s competitive grant process to projects in the program areas of arts and culture, community betterment, education and youth development, environment and animal welfare, health and human service. Grant applicants must be a 501(c)(3) designated organization or government entity serving Franklin County in order to be considered for funding.
